Rich and full-bodied tone like a larger classic grand

The GL-30 produces the same rich, full-bodied tonal character of a larger classic grand in a flexible size that will grace any home or studio environment.

AURES2 combines specially developed acoustic muting features with class-leading digital technologies and an advanced soundboard speaker system. Pianists can enjoy the pleasure of playing a traditional acoustic piano, while taking advantage of selectable instrument sounds, Bluetooth connectivity, and an adjustable volume level control.

Length: 166cm

Analogue action, digital world
The AURES AR2 hybrid instruments blend KawaiÂ’s masterful acoustic piano craftsmanship with advanced digital piano technologies. Each piano begins with the solid foundation of KawaiÂ’s award-winning grand pianos, offering class-leading features such as the Millennium III action, considered to be the worldÂ’s finest grand piano actions.

Equipped with KawaiÂ’s most advanced digital and sound technologies, AURES AR2 instruments are also premium digital pianos that can be played silently with headphones or through their acoustic soundboard. Players can complement their performances with a wide selection of digital sounds or layer these sounds with the acoustic piano to create unique combinations. Practice new pieces using the built-in metronome then record their performance, or play along with tracks from a Bluetooth-connected smart device and enjoy a personal ensemble performance.

Millennium III Action
The Millennium III Action features components made of ABS-Carbon, a composite material created by the infusion of carbon fibre into our renowned ABS Styran. ABS-Carbon is incredibly sturdy and rigid, which allows the creation of action parts that are lighter without sacrificing strength. The result is a stronger, faster action that offers more power, better control and greater stability than conventional all-wood actions.

GP Touch Muting System
The latest AURES AR2 grand piano instruments utilise KawaiÂ’s brand new GP Touch Muting System. This technology features a significantly improved hammer stop rail system that is able to accurately halt the actionÂ’s hammer movement immediately before striking the strings, without the need to make special adjustments to let-off position or timing.

This unique design allows pianists to play AURES AR2 grand pianos with exactly the same level of effortless fluency as their standard acoustic counterparts in both normal and muted playing modes, while also enjoying a wide range of convenient and inspiring digital features.

Longer Keys
Longer keys make playing easier and provide a more even response from the front to the back of the playing surface. A taller profile and concert-length key buttons make them more rigid to provide exceptional energy transfer and optimum power.

Integrated Hammer Sensing System
The AURES AR2 pianosÂ’ precise hammer movements are measured with KawaiÂ’s Integrated Hammer Sensing System (IHSS), which utilises high-resolution contact-less optical sensors to provide greater accuracy then conventional key-based sensor systems.

This more advanced approach reproduces the mechanical flow of the upright and grand pianosÂ’ actions more closely, allowing the full range of dynamics to be expressed by the instrumentÂ’s powerful digital piano sound engine with natural fluency.

Rigid Foundation of Key Stroke
The hammer rail is the “spine” of the piano’s action. GL series hammer rails are made of durable extruded aluminum with our exclusive Dual-Beam design for strength and stability. Both the hammer rail and the wippen rail are permanently locked in place to preserve the exacting tolerances of the action design and ensure consistent touch over the life of the piano.

The entire surface of the hammer rail is finely serrated to hold each hammer flange securely in place for optimum hammer alignment, while the hammer flanges secured to the surface are made by PBT resin that enables the action screws to remain tight without shrinking and swelling. All these meticulous design features comprise the GL SeriesÂ’ rigid foundation, ensuring a precise key stroke over time.

Tapered Solid Spruce Soundboard
The soundboard is the heart of a piano. Its purpose is to transform the vibrations of the pianoÂ’s strings into a rich, resounding tone. Kawai uses only straightgrained, quarter-sawn solid spruce for GL series soundboards. Each one is strategically tapered to provide the proper degree of resonant movement in each reg. Only soundboards that meet or exceed our demanding resonance standards are selected for use in the GL series grand pianos.

Soundboard Speaker System
In addition to the acoustic muting and digital sound features, AURES AR2 instruments are also equipped with the latest iteration of KawaiÂ’s advanced Soundboard Speaker System. This innovative technology utilises four high-performance transducers which are strategically placed onto the grand pianoÂ’s solid spruce soundboard. These transducers channel the AURES AR2 instrumentÂ’s digitally generated sound through the large wooden soundboard, resulting in a naturally acoustic tone that is more expansive than that produced by traditional cone speakers.

Pianists can then enjoy the flexibility and convenience offered by a digital piano, such as the ability to select a broad range of different instrument sounds, record and playback one’s performance, or freely adjust the volume level to avoid disturbing loves ones – all while continuing to play the AURES AR2’s exceptional Millennium III grand piano keyboard actions.
